Research Fields
His research interests are on the scientific areas of Operational Research, Systems Optimization and Decision Making with applications in the fields of energy, industry, environment, and supply chain management using methods and tools belonging to Mathematical Programming, Multicriteria Analysis and Techno-Economic Analysis. He is active in the design of biomass-to-biofuels supply chains and the techno-economic design of units producing rare earth elements from bauxite by-products. He also deals with the fields of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Biographic Notes
Dr. Paraskevas Georgiou is an Assistant Professor with specialty in “Energy and Industrial Systems Optimization with Mathematical Programming” at the Division of Management & Organization Studies of the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics of the University of Patras.
He received his Ph.D. in Operational Research and Decision Making with application to Energy Planning from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is a Chemical Engineer from NTUA and holds a MBA from the Athens University of Economics & Business (AUEB) and NTUA.
He teaches the courses “Operational Research I”, “Operational Research II” and “Industrial Management” at the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics of the University of Patras, and the course “Project Management & Investment Plan Management” at the Master’s Program “Farm Business Management” of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). He has taught the courses “Operational Research I”, “Operational Research II” and “Decision Support Systems” at the School of Mechanical Engineering NTUA, the course “Operational Research” at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Development AUA, the course “Business Decision Making with Multicriteria Methods” at the Department of Economic Sciences of the University of Peloponnese and the course “Entrepreneurship & Innovation” at the Department of Chemistry of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He had been appointed as a Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Sector of Industrial Management & Operational Research of the School of Mechanical Engineering NTUA and as a specialist associate in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit NTUA. He was an innovation consultant at the Small Business Institute of the General Confederation of Professional Craft Merchants of Greece (IME GSEVEE) while he was a scientific associate at the Center for Renewable Sources & Energy Saving (CRES).
He is an external associate of the Laboratory of Industrial & Energy Economics and the Laboratory of Inorganic & Analytical Chemistry of the School of Chemical Engineering NTUA.
He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Economic Chamber of Greece, the Panhellenic Association of Chemical Engineers, and the Hellenic Operational Research Society.
