{"id":35331,"date":"2025-04-10T16:25:36","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T14:25:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mead1.upatras.gr\/?post_type=courses&#038;p=35331"},"modified":"2025-04-10T16:25:36","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T14:25:36","slug":"material-science-ii","status":"publish","type":"courses","link":"https:\/\/mead.upatras.gr\/en\/courses\/material-science-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Material Science II"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"content-area\">\n<div class=\"container site-content sidebar-right\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<p><strong>COURSE CONTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mechanical and technological properties (impact, hardness, wear, tribological properties, weldability, machinability, rollability) \u2013 Improvement of mechanical properties of metallic materials (strengthening mechanisms, mechanical and thermal processes) \u2013 Corrosion and corrosion protection methods -Pyrometallurgy \u2013 Sintering- Engineering materials \u2013 Iron and iron-based alloys- Steel and cast-iron \u2013 Light weight metallic materials (Aluminum and aluminum alloys, Magnesium and magnesium alloys) \u2013 Heavy weight metallic materials (Copper and copper alloys, Nickel and nickel alloys) \u2013 Polymer and composite materials \u2013 Ceramic materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEARNING OUTCOMES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The students attending this course gain the basic principles of the material science, namely the materials\u2019 technological properties and mechanical behavior. Specifically, the materials\u2019 behavior under corrosive environments as well as under dynamic loading (fatigue, fatigue crack growth, fracture mechanics) is analyzed.
