  1. Introduction to dynamical systems and automatic control<\/li>\n
  2. Mathematical representation, types and notions of dynamical systems<\/li>\n
  3. State space representations of dynamical systems<\/li>\n
  4. Modeling of physical systems<\/li>\n
  5. Response calculation in the time domain<\/li>\n
  6. Response calculation in the frequency domain<\/li>\n
  7. Elementary systems and their characteristics<\/li>\n
  8. Multivariable systems<\/li>\n
  9. Introduction to automatic control systems: specifications and basic topologies<\/li>\n
  10. Stability of closed loop systems and the Routh criterion<\/li>\n
  11. Steady state response specifications<\/li>\n
  12. Transient response specifications<\/li>\n
  13. PID controllers and Lead-Lag compensators and their properties<\/li>\n
  14. Control system topology selection<\/li>\n
  15. Design principles for automatic control systems<\/li>\n
  16. Design using the Root Locus method and the frequency domain<\/li>\n
  17. Brief introduction into state feedback control systems<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    LEARNING OUTCOMES<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The course introduces the student to the basic theory of linear dynamical systems and automatic control. Upon successful completion of the course the student will be in position to:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Identify dynamical systems and their basic characteristics<\/li>\n
    • Develop differential equation and state space models of common mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other systems<\/li>\n
    • Analyze the properties of a system and compute responses using the Laplace Transform<\/li>\n
    • Analyze closed loop feedback control systems<\/li>\n
    • Suggest controllers and design closed loop control systems of various topologies for meeting set specifications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
