Aeroacoustics and Noise of Aerovehicles II

COURSE CONTENT

Basic principles of aeroacoustics and their application in the study of aircraft noise generation. Types of sound sources: monopoles, dipoles, quadrupoles, arrays. Aerodynamic sound. Sound from vibrating surfaces. Sound fields in rectangular, cylindrical and spherical enclosures.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning outcomes upon successful completion of course requirements:

Knowledge: Mechanisms and phenomena involved in aircraft noise generation. Acquired knowledge is  useful in other noise-related courses and in real life aircraft noise applications

Skills:

  • Critical evaluation of assumption and results
  • Employment of mathematical tools and mathematical manipulations

Desired competence: Employment of advanced mathematical tools for the study of real-life complex noise problems
