LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course is a lecture course and is offered by the construction sector in the 8^th semester of study.

Objectives of the course:

Recognition and acquisition of knowledge about the basic terms of measurement and analysis of sound and the relevant units
Study of the acoustic behavior of rom and open spaces
Calculation of absorption of materials and the sound propagation medium – Use of appropriate materials to provide sound insulation and improve room acoustics
Estimation of the noise level and information on the limits set by the European and Greek regulations

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

Analyze sound in fixed and variable bandwidth spectra.
Calculate the resonance frequencies of small close spaces and suggest ways to solve the sound/noise problems
Analyze the acoustic quality of large spaces and propose design solutions and interventions
Perform acoustic design of spaces with the help of appropriate absorbent materials
Calculate noise exposure and assess its impact
